HVAC Engineering Coordinator

Williston, VT

We are looking for a HVAC Engineering Coordinator who is equal parts creative problem-solver and technical wizard to join our fast-paced mechanical design team. If you enjoy turning complex concepts into construction-ready drawings and thrive in a collaborative, detail-driven environment—this role is for you.

As a HVAC Engineering Coordinator, you will bring HVAC, plumbing, and sheet metal systems to life using AutoCAD and Revit, working closely with our licensed professional engineers and project managers to produce high-quality construction documents that meet rigorous industry standards. From HVAC load calculations and hydronic design to coordinating multi-trade drawings and site visits, you will play a key role in every stage of the design-build process.

You will also help maintain and evolve our design standards and CAD workflows, ensuring every drawing that leaves our office meets the gold standard for precision, compliance, and clarity. Your work will support both our internal teams and external partners in delivering successful, efficient projects—on time and on spec.

We are looking for someone who is curious, proactive, and always seeking to improve. If you're passionate about the built environment, have a knack for technical design, and enjoy working on a variety of project types, we want to meet you.

In this role, you will be responsible for

  • Coordinate mechanical system layouts, ensuring accuracy and alignment across architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Create precise and professional construction drawings in AutoCAD and Revit for HVAC, plumbing, and sheet metal systems from early concepts to final shop drawings.
  • Collaborate with engineers, CAD coordinators, and project managers to resolve technical design conflicts.
  • Work under the guidance of a Senior PE to produce complete construction documents that include plans, details, specs, and schedules.
  • Design core mechanical systems including HVAC load calcs, hydronic heating/cooling, steam systems, and plumbing layouts like DWV and medical gas.
  • Coordinate seamlessly across trades, developing clean, accurate coordination drawings for efficient installs and fewer jobsite surprises.
  • Set up and manage CAD/Revit files from project kickoff through final as-builts — ensuring everything is clean, consistent, and archived properly.
  • Visit project sites to provide field support, gather data for as-builts, and ensure real-world accuracy matches the design vision.
  • Continuously improve standards, helping evolve company CAD/Revit templates and workflows to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Ensure all designs meet code and quality standards, including SMACNA, ASHRAE, NFPA, and NEAS-specific protocols.
  • Collaborate across departments, bringing a team-first mindset to every project and promoting a culture of accountability, safety, and shared success.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit for long periods of time in an office environment.
  • Prolonged use of computer and telephone
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20lbs.
  • Use of step and/or extension ladders for field discovery work.
